Waste Management
The Pingelly Waste Management Facility is located 2km south of the Pingelly townsite on the Great Southern Highway. As of 4 May 2004, the facility will be open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 7.30am - 5.00pm. The facility will be closed and locked outside of these hours. There is no site entry fee. The facility is a Class II landfill which means it is authorised to accept certain hazardous wastes including asbestos, synthetic mineral fibres and some potentially hazardous industrial materials. If you wish to dispose of hazardous waste, please contact Council’s Environmental Health Officer who will advise you of an appropriate course of action for the disposal of your waste. Refuse Collection Council’s weekly kerbside collection is on Thursday. Rubbish Service Fees of $215.00 are payable annually with rates and include the provision of one 240 litre mobile rubbish bin per residence. Additional bins will incur a fee of $215.00 per bin per annum. Any replacement of lost bins will incur a replacement fee. Recycling Recycling facilities for newspaper, aluminium cans and glass bottles are available on Quadrant Street, behind the Pingelly Trading Co. The Shire also does curbside recycling pickup every second Thursday for residences in town, please contact the Shire or see the website for a list of what can be recycled. The Pingelly Refuse Site, has also installed a shed that all cardboard boxes and newspapers (once they have been tied together) are to be placed in (please no plastic or other rubbish), these boxes and newspapers will then be placed in a cardboard crusher and recycled. | Contact Rod Wood |
