Wooroloo Bushfire highlights Pingelly's community spirit

Published on Monday, 8 February 2021 at 12:00:00 PM

The devastating Wooroloo Bushfire has captured the community spirit found in Pingelly and throughout the Wheatbelt region.

Barry, Shannon and Cassie from the Pingelly Fire and Rescue Crew joined a team of volunteers from Kondinin, Hyden, Wagin and Wandering to work together to protect lives and homes.  In total the firefighting efforts of 800 emergency service providers resulted in getting the bushfire under control and downgraded to an advice alert level.

Over the weekend a convoy of 13 trucks carrying 601 bails of hay departed Pingelly for Wooroloo. This was a huge logistical operation which is a credit to Peter Warby as well as to the suppliers, truck drivers and volunteers representing Pingelly, Narrogin, Wagin, Lake Grace, Wandering, Boddington and Newdegate to support community recovery efforts.

The Shire of Pingelly acknowledges the heart of gold of local volunteers, farmers, suppliers and transport for their time and donations to make this possible.
