Pingelly Local Heritage Survey and Heritage List Review

The Shire of Pingelly has reviewed the Local Heritage Survey (formally known as the Municipal Heritage Inventory) and Heritage List. The review commenced in February 2023 - see the announcement here.

The review updates the original Municipal Heritage Inventory (now Local Heritage Survey) completed in 1995 and identifies new places which are proposed to be included on the Survey. The most significant places on this Survey have been identified for protection on the Heritage List. It is proposed that 41 places are included on this updated list. A Local Planning Policy has been drafted to ensure that this protection is not overly onerous by specifying which types of work requires or is exempt from the requirement of a development approval.

The Shire is seeking feedback from the community regarding these documents:

This comprehensive review aligns these documents with the updated legislation, updates information on existing heritage places within the documents and adds new heritage places that have not been previously included. Overall, these documents are more comprehensive and useful.

To date the Shire's consultant, Heritage Intelligence, has consulted with many individuals and key stakeholder groups to develop these documents. The Shire thanks all those that have assisted in the development of these documents to date.

Public submissions are now invited in response to the above draft documents. These submissions should be sent to admin@pingelly.wa.gov.au or to the Shire offices at 17 Queen Street, Pingelly by hand or post by close of business on 31 October 2023.
