Christmas Message from the Shire President

As 2020 draws to a close, and we look back on a year of challenges and achievements, I am again proud of what we have accomplished as a Council and community in 12 short months.

The festive season is a time to be thankful for family and friends and the wonderful community we live in, and this past year has highlighted how fortunate we all are to live in Pingelly, within a fantastic community with people who support one another.

The challenges that have faced the world this year have impacted many people in our community including our businesses, individuals who have lost jobs, families who have been unable to connect, and the many groups and clubs which were unable to function for a number of months. I have been inspired by the hard work and resilience shown by the community as we provided support for others during the crisis. The generosity of so many people, offering assistance, has been a great boost to the morale of the community at large.

To our volunteers; your efforts throughout 2020 are what makes Pingelly such a great place to live and work. There are so many selfless individuals who put in countless hours of their own time, and work tirelessly to contribute to emergency services, community and sporting groups. On behalf of the community, thank you.

While Christmas is a joyous time of the year, we must not forget those in the community who may be alone, vulnerable and without close family ties. If you can, find a way to reach out to these people to provide care and support. Whether it’s  visiting a neighbour or friend who may not have family around, or simply wishing a total stranger 'Merry Christmas', we all have the ability to make the Christmas season a little bit better for someone else.

After some time-out, we can look to the future. 2021 is shaping up to be another busy and productive year for Pingelly, and I look forward to continuing to plan and deliver services for the best outcomes for this wonderful community.

On behalf of my fellow Councillors and Shire of Pingelly staff, I wish everyone a Merry Christmas, a safe holiday season, and all the very best for 2021.

William (Bill) Mulroney ESM

Shire President
