Every year the Shire celebrates its inspiring community members with the Community Service and Sportsperson of the Year Awards.

To recap, Eileen McCahon received the Sportsperson of the Year Award in 2019 for her on-field and off-field performance, which contributed to the success of the Pingelly Bowling Club.

The community service Award in 2019 was awarded to Bruce Sewell following six years of voluntary commitment culminating with the opening of the Pingelly Recreation  and Cultural Centre. In his capacity as the inaugural Chairperson, Bruce’s tireless efforts ensured the facility’s ongoing operations were designed to meet the needs of community and sporting organisations into the future.

Nominations for the 2020 awards are now open and close on Friday, 27 November 2020. The two recipients will receive their award at the Shire’s Australia Day event to be held on Australia Day, 26 January 2021.
