Lotterywest backs 2021 Pingelly Astro Fest

Exciting news! The Shire of Pingelly’s has been successful in securing support from Lotterywest's Building Community Program for the 2021 Pingelly Astro Fest.

The 2021 Pingelly Astro Fest will be a free community-based festival celebrating local astronomy and Australian science on Saturday, 20 March from 4.30pm at Pingelly Recreation & Cultural Centre - PRACC.

The Shire of Pingelly is partnering with The University of Western Australia Institute of Agriculture, Scitech and the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) to showcase Pingelly’s night sky as a natural asset for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Proposed activities include solar observing, interactive astronomy and science activities, shows by Scitech, night sky tour with expert commentary, astrophotography exhibition, as well as telescopes available to use throughout the evening.

The Astro Fest has a COVID-19 Event Plan which is currently undergoing approval with Department of Health WA. The event will also be registered with the Department to ensure ongoing compliance with WA Government Event Guidelines.
