Recommencement of Face to Face Service | 5 May 2020

As of Thursday 7 May, face to face customer services will recommence from the Pingelly Administration Office, including all Department of Transport Agency transactions.

During the period that the office has been closed, staff have remained busy with appointments, and responding to email and phone enquiries. The Shire is pleased to return to a face to face service.

Social distancing principles will remain in place through the limiting of the number of customers in the office at one time, and continuing to provide additional cleaning and sanitising measures.

Residents are requested to continue to consider doing business with us over the phone, via email, or online, however, our friendly staff will be here to assist face to face where required.

Alternative Service Delivery | 31 March 2020

Today the Shire of Pingelly will go one step further to protect the community and its workforce, in the face of COVID-19, by closing its administration building to the public, from 12pm.

We are transitioning to a new way of working in order to continue to provide you with the best possible service, and to ensure the health and safety of our community and employees.  From 12pm 31 March 2020, face to face services will be restricted to essential requests via appointment only.  Please phone the office on 9887 1066 or email admin@pingelly.wa.gov.au to schedule a time with staff.

We are pleased to advise we will be extending our telephone coverage hours, and will be available to take calls from 7.30am – 5.30pm. We will be able to assist you via phone or email with most queries. As a reminder, the following are alternative ways to do business with us:

  • Renewal of cat and dog registrations can be completed over the telephone with a credit card or via direct deposit.  Please use your surname and pet’s name as the reference.
  • Customer service requests, enquiries and questions can be resolved over the telephone or via email.  The Shire of Pingelly website ‘Report It’ function allows online submission of requests.
  • Rates and other payments can be made over the telephone using a credit card or via direct debit using your invoice number or assessment number as the reference.  When paying by direct deposit please also send an email to advise of your payment.
  • Most Department of Transport transactions can be competed online, including driver’s licence renewals and vehicle transfers  www.transport.wa.gov.au

Our doors may be closed, but we are continuing to provide you with the best service by continuing to deliver as many services as possible from behind the scenes. Thankyou for your understanding during this time.

From the Shire President | 20 March 2020

As the COVID-19 situation continues to develop, I would like to reassure our community about what the Shire of Pingelly is doing to support you. Our priority is the health and safety of our community – particularly those at higher risk, and we are actively seeking updates on this rapidly changing situation and will keep you informed of any new developments. Our team are closely following and reviewing our activities based on the daily advice of the Department of Health and other Federal and State Government agencies that are leading Australia’s response to COVID-19.

Minimising disruption to our community is a high priority. Currently there is no change to operating hours of the Shire of Pingelly Administration, however, we are encouraging residents to only conduct business with the Shire that is absolutely necessary. Online services continue to operate as normal, and service requests can be lodged directly through the Shire of Pingelly website ‘report it’ function.

Our communications will continue uninterrupted, with the Shire News being published in the Pingelly Times and available electronically, and the Shire’s Facebook and website being updated regularly.

Decisions around non-essential services have been made to minimise the risk of COVID-19 spread in the coming weeks. The Pingelly Swimming Pool is now closed for the season. Public events organised by the Shire will be postponed until at least 31 May 2020. The Tip Shop is temporarily closed until further notice, with minor procedural changes implemented at the Pingelly Waste Management Facility to minimise exposure to both the public and staff.

We are well prepared for this situation to ensure our ability to deliver essential services. Actions to date have included increasing our messaging around good hygiene, cancelling all unnecessary meetings, increasing frequency of cleaning activities, and putting in place measures where employees can work from home or an alternative facility if the need arises to self-isolate.

Currently, there are no known COVID-19 cases in the Shire of Pingelly, and as a community we need to take all necessary precautions to maintain that status. This means practicing a high level of personal hygiene and re-considering all non-essential travel, contact and activities.

I would like to request your assistance at this time. Please shop for your current needs only and do not hoard essential supplies, as this will directly affect other residents of the Shire. Where possible, use online services or phone communication to request assistance or report service faults, and utilise electronic payment methods rather than cash. Above all, I ask the community to look out for each other and support local businesses as we respond to the situation at hand.

W.V. (Bill) Mulroney ESM

Shire President
