Transitioning to the Noongar season of Djeran

Published on Tuesday, 30 March 2021 at 11:00:00 AM

This week we are entering the Noongar season of Djeran where the weather will transition to rainy days with cooler and damper nights throughout April and May.

The winds will also change with frequent light breezes and the changing of direction from south easterly to south westerly. You may see flying ants cruising amidst the light winds.

Look out for more red and petite flowers such as the red flowering gum, as well as the petite summer flame. Banksias will also begin to display their flowers and ensure nectar food sources for small mammals and birds.

Did you know Department of Fire and Emergency Services responded to 297 bushfires in April 2020? During the Djeran season it’s still important to remain vigilant and informed on emergency updates.
