We are excited to announce that the Shire of Pingelly has been awarded a $10,000 grant through the Youth Affairs Council of Western Australia (YACWA), supported by Lotterywest, to deliver an exciting new youth project in 2026.
The funded project, “Beyond Social Media: Getting Pingelly Youth Creative and Active,” will run from March to October 2026 and is designed to give local young people creative, active and social alternatives to online activity—particularly in response to Australia’s new under‑16 social media restrictions.
Through this project, Pingelly youth will have access to four workshop streams, including:
- Video and photography creation
- LEGO building and design
- Action sports sessions at the pump track, skate park and ninja park
- Music creation and performance
The program aims to strengthen social connection, build creative and technical skills, support wellbeing and activate community spaces with youth-driven activity.
We look forward to sharing more updates as this exciting youth initiative unfolds. This project is proudly supported by the YACWA Small Grants Program, with thanks to Lotterywest.
