The Shire of Pingelly is currently experiencing increasing pressure on both short-term accommodation and long-term housing. This shortage is impacting the Shire’s ability to attract and retain workers, support local businesses, and accommodate visitors, particularly during events and peak periods.
In response, the Shire has developed the Pingelly Accommodation Action Plan to provide a clear and coordinated approach to addressing these challenges. The Plan outlines a range of practical actions aimed at increasing the supply, diversity, and quality of accommodation options across the community.
The Action Plan includes a combination of short, medium, and long-term initiatives, such as:
- Development of a new premium tourist park and visitor accommodation
- Expansion of residential housing opportunities, including subdivisions and lifestyle lots
- Support for aged-appropriate housing and affordable living options
- Planning scheme amendments to encourage higher density and infill development
- Investigation of partnerships to address housing insecurity and homelessness
The Plan has been informed by public consultation and updated to reflect community feedback. It provides a strategic and proactive framework to guide future development and investment, ensuring Pingelly can continue to grow and meet the needs of residents, workers, and visitors.
