We wish the Pingelly Railway Station a very Happy 90th Birthday today!

Did you know the development of the Pingelly townsite came after the construction of the Great Southern Railway in 1889?
The original townsite was at Moorumbine 10km east, though the rail line needed to be in closer proximity to the Avon River to support steam engine operations. A small siding was constructed next to the Pingeculling Spring (Aboriginal name for watering place) which inspired the development and growth of a new townsite. Today the Friends of Pingelly Railway Station Inc remain dedicated to activating the station as a community space for events and preserving its history as a local attraction
