The Shire of Pingelly is pleased to announce that the Department of Communities has awarded $5,000 to support our newly formed Youth Advisory Group (YAG).
Established in September 2025, the YAG gives young people aged 10–25 a voice in local decision‑making. This funding will help the group deliver its first annual youth‑led community project, designed and chosen by YAG members in consultation with young people across Pingelly.
Over the coming months, the YAG will carry out surveys and conversations with their peers to identify what project will have the greatest impact. Ideas may include youth events, wellbeing initiatives, creative or cultural projects, improvements to youth spaces, environmental activities, or skills‑building workshops.
The project will be planned, budgeted, and delivered entirely by the YAG, with mentoring from Shire staff. This hands‑on experience builds leadership, teamwork, financial literacy, and practical life skills while demonstrating the value of youth participation in our community.
We look forward to sharing updates as the YAG begins shaping their first major project for Pingelly’s young people.
